I grew up with Jeremiah and Megan and I was so excited when J contacted me to photograph his mother's wedding. Carol and Richard decided to throw a BBQ and invite their closest friends and family, and then surprise them by turning it into a wedding! It was fun and thrilling trying to keep the secret. I did get asked several times why there was a photographer there, but I just said I was a friend of the family and there for the BBQ and photo booth (not a lie!). Richard and Carol put together the photo booth which later became the altar. The BBQ was catered by tasty Uncle Billy's and I tasted the best potato salad I've ever had. DJ Mr. Good News provided music and narration for the hula hoop contest and later the reception. There were multiple yard games; the most important being Wheel of Fortune. A select few family and friends were chosen to play while everyone else watched. They kept hitting bankrupt and it took until the last letter, but they finally realized the board spelled out "Now it's time for the I-do's"! By that time Carol and Richard had run off to change for the wedding ceremony while the family made some last minute touches to change the photobooth to an altar. Afterward I gave the bride and groom their Laidbacklizard shirts (complimentary with every wedding booked with me) and Carol immediately put hers on for the reception dance party in the yard! The groom from a wedding I photographed in August was a guest here and he was wearing his LBL shirt too! This was a great event to photograph and be a part of, thank you guys for trusting me with your (secret) big day!
